Shadow on the Land

Can you feel it?
The darkness loom
A shadow spreading
Like an inky lie
Off a foggy doom.

Heavy in the gut
Creepy on the skin
A cold sweat at 3:00 am
A waking whisper
A snarling grin.

Can you hear the quiet?
Thick like a presence scorned
Ticking watches, pounding pulses
Heavy from screaming mourned.
Waiting.

In the eyes but never ever
On the lips
Waiting, hiding
For when denial fades
The shadow rips.

Can you feel it?
Can you speak it?
When?
